Crafting the Landscape

Charlotte’s third museum visit is to Keswick Museum and Art Gallery!

Crafting the landscape: the journey of a piece of KSIA is an incredible multisensory exhibit which gives visitors the opportunity to follow the journey of a piece of Keswick School of Industrial Arts metalware.

The tactile map of the local area, nuggets of copper, and even live moss help tell the story of how the local landscape influenced the materials and designs used by the KSIA.

An interactive element helps to hammer home (literally!) the sounds of the workshop where the nuggets of copper were transformed into the real object that visitors can view and touch. The whole installation is supported by amazing co-created audio description.

I’m having so much fun visiting our pilot museums and experiencing all of our innovative co-created multisensory interventions!
